Snake

Snake

A Poem by Mercedes
"

The real me is in there somewhere, just hidden beneath lies.

"
All I ever want to do is just run away
I can't stand standing still,
But I don't know where to go
I'm stuck, jogging in place, waiting
For what, I still don't quite know
Maybe I'm waiting for a place, or a day,
Maybe for a sign, or something like it
Anything that would show me the way
The way to go to get away, to run away
To be free.
All I want is to escape my chains,
And be me, far away from my tiny little cell
I want my freedom
I don't want to be bound to someone else,
Their schedule, thier life, for the rest of mine
I just want to run, run far far away
To lose this skin, shed my old self like a snake,
And become someone new - The person I really want to be
The real me.
