Forgotten Toys

Forgotten Toys

A Poem by Mercedes
"

I feel lost and insignificant.

"
I feel just as I used to then,
Out of place, out of mind,
Always out of sight.
I'm just an outsider.
I feel lost and alone,
Mostly forgotten.
Everyone's so wrapped up
With everything else in their worlds
And I just get left behind,
Like always.
I'm like that little stuffed toy
That you used to keep with you when you were a child
One day, you set it down
And promptly forgot all about it.
There it sat on the table or chair
Gathering dust in the dark.
Your eyes would occasionally sweep over it,
But you never really saw that it was there.
It's still a part of your life,
But it's so taken for granted and ignored
Maybe one day it'll be gone
Thrown in the trash or left in your abandoned house.
And will you even notice that it's gone?
Or will you forget that it was ever there?
