Sober ApathyA Poem by Mohl083snow days make me sad...The flurries are coming down outside Whispering of the promise Of another snow day. The fat flakes parachute down Like autumn leaves in a crisp breeze. I tune in and out To a movie I picked up at a pawnshop. One I would have worn out on VHS If I’d known about it back then. I recall a day with heavier snow. One I singed with Cheap cigarettes and bourbon And wished away before it began. Quiet moments in a warm apartment Gel with the cold I feel by memory. A steaming cup of coffee from the kettle Complemented by my hand on the window pane. More sleds covered in snow Only to be remembered too late. © 2010 Mohl083 |
