one step closer

one step closer

A Poem by Mohl083

i've never been one

to turn up my nose at a birthday present,

but the first one lingers

like an unwanted guest

instead of being forgotten in the closet

when i moved from one life to another.

each day's just another test

while men in white coats

alter variables x and y

before coldy marking down numbers

in quick pencil strokes on their clipboards.

zombies roaming around

in catatonic states of existence

void of dreams and flavor.

when will the vigor be drained from my flesh

and leave me just another husk

in a field of other forgotten souls.

to be asked to continue another charade

in this increasingly imbecilic farce.

would all be forgiven

if every morning

a loving wife waked me

with fresh brewed coffee

before i sauntered off to a job

that didn't pull the bile out of my liver.

perhaps, this is too much to ask,

so i keep waiting in this corner

while the devil nudges his pistol

another inch across the table

each day.

Its as if you are watching as everything happens as if you were isolated. Where people looked and acted like you were a subject rather then a soul. It really made me think and feel...I have no words. You ar a great writer.
