shared ice cream sandwichA Poem by Mohl083ah, vanilla! trying to come up with something for valentines day...
Two thin slices of chocolate wafers
perforated with tiny holes
like the dashboard of an old Volkswagen.
filled with a special ice cream
that sticks -- just right -- to the paper.
too much pleasure for one tongue;
a tiny pair of hands dissects it into
two equal shares.
The frosted cream warms our hearts
as we sit silently munching our frozen treat.
I recall recent Sunday mornings
when neither foot wanted to venture forth
onto the cold, grey carpet,
shunning the warmth of the blankets
it had taken all night to make toasty.
How a tickle fight ensued,
and when I heard your laughter
the winter frost around my heart
vaporized with a passionate kiss
that screamed from my lips
and was silenced by your own.
The long dormant heart's cogs
creaked and groaned from slumber,
but the lubrication of your love
soothes these coarse gears
into a smooth and effective machine
perpetually running on the power of your innocent smile
and the light of your blue diamond eyes.
Of course, I deprive my tongue of these thoughts,
and we continue our quiet snack
with only the squeaks of a guinea pig
occasionally cracking the icy silence.
Please know, that even when I hold cold silence
nearer to me than your arms
I feel these words protruding from my soul
when you humbly offer
a smile, a touch, or a look
that lets me know you feel the same.
