if i should become a stranger...

if i should become a stranger...

A Poem by Mohl083

why such a precise thought

as i sat beside a humming air-conditioner

in a dimly lit classroom

discussing Marx and his theories?

somewhere back home

packed in with ornaments

of another lifetime

a flimsy green notebook,

purged of many unnecessary pages,

that somehow made its way to my hands.

inscribed in ink and brown paint

a conversation from a high school art class

given authenticity by our own hands.

why this sudden utterance of my own

Rosebud?

for one hundred and eighty days

did i really have everything,

but lost it without realizing?

a thought that came upon me too quickly to realize

like being gorged from the backside by a bull

and tasting only the blackness.

tell me, you wicked ghosts,

why return this perfect memory to mind?

oh how i wish to feel no more

to be a numb witness to the world

free of knowing, free of passion

another harmless soul trying to make a buck.

haunt me no more you f*****g phantasm,

relinquish me from memory

that i can finally be unbound

from the chains of my past,

and send a fire to that book

that contradicts me with its existence,

yet i can not force my hand to destroy.
