March Reflections

March Reflections

A Poem by Mohl083
"

we all think we've found true love, and then we catch the early flight home from san diego...

"

What would have happened

Had you never smiled at me

Across a crowded walkway?

Where would we be

If the stars didn’t align precisely,

And the magnetism of the universe

Never brought us together?

Would the Fates have woven a web

Of silver and gold threads

Placing us here and now

In this quiet room

Plotting our destination

By the star’s smiles?

Logically, it’s an impossibility.

All the tiny factors

Falling into place at the perfect time

Like a well laid train of dominoes.

Yet, it happened, somehow.

A blind poet in some distant shack

Uttering the exact outlines of our faces,

Every movement we’ll make

From now until our teeth rot away

And the skin folds back from our skulls

To some young scribe

Scribbling his words

In the Book of Destiny.

Usually chattering with an infinity of

Thoughts and Questions,

My mind is the heart

Of a snow covered field

In the early winter morning.

I look to the ghosts of the past

For any inspiration their spirits

Can offer.

Combing through their life’s work,

Finding nothing close to echoing

The feelings in my heart.

Our story is eternal and timeless,

Yet unique in its rarity.

We are the prize

In the box of cereal,

The kiss on the first date,

And the wings of the angels.
