Split Fence

Split Fence

A Poem by Jacob L. Moeller

Imagine:
Dreams and Deception pitching tents-
riding the fence that splits the difference
between you and me.

The grass has grown too green
and the sky too blue
to do what needs doing.
But it's okay to pretend.
       Sometimes.

We will dance this dance
and walk the line"
right and wrong don't live here,
     not this time.

Because we live in a world of gray areas,
and the scariest moments
are the ones we live in color
     when no one’s watching.

The shut up and f**k me,
shut up and love me, moments.

The shut up, I'm sorry
I can't save you but I'll try
if you let me, moments.

Frozen in time.

Moments that dance and die
like fireflies from late at night
to early-morning sunrise.
     But lines must be drawn.

You do your best to provide them"
I’ll take my time
and draw outside them.
