perspective

A Poem by aspen

how you perceive the world when you open your eyes in the morning
is determined by every soul that has converged with yours

everything will remain the same
memories are the only modification to your emotions that materialize at the glance of a location

every single person that has intense significance in your heart
will soon be encrypted into the earth forever

certain streets and parking lots will cause your heart to skip 8 beats

familiar features will pull the anxiety out of you like a string

specific shades will pin prick your cheeks until your brain replays past moments like a record stuck on repeat

songs will seize the floodgates that restrain cavernous seas of emotions that lay behind your eyes

and if you're not aching from the pain of fleeing hearts
you're drowning in nostalgia from lost moments

the only difference is that nostalgia coats itself in pain killers and plugs you into what you will never have back

in any situation, you'll always be living in the past

I love how you write-- thinking about these things are so intriguing, and I love how you are able to convey such a beautiful concept in such radiant words.
