sweetheartA Poem by aspen
she lays on her bed, looking as if she's a delicate angel hovering slightly above her cloud
she throws her head back, laughing at something you've said your heart swells with acceptance colorful lights twinkle all around her room making her smile seem like a rainbow radiating directly upon you she's heaven on earth, lips dripping with ethereality and honey "I love you more than you know," she whispers gently, exhaling hints of cherry vodka on her breath but there's a calculated look of vexation that washes over her demeanor in a matter of seconds it's as if a million things cross her mind all at once and suddenly she's no longer the same woman I stood in awe over she raises her fists and starts swinging wildly at walls of vulnerability that had been stacked between us moments before my heart and nose are a bloody, broken mess I'm paralyzed with shock as my eyes blur over with tears I can hear her voice echoing throughout my entire body now as she says, "anything in this world that holds beauty is sure to harm you. you may not even realize this until the moment is over and you're left on the floor with nothing, not even your own heart." © 2017 aspen |
