numb

numb

A Poem by aspen

she lays on the unwelcoming concrete, smelling of cherry vanilla cola and pot
fingers hovering over the blood gushing from her nose, she smears it down her lips as her eyes roll back and the silence gnaws at her vociferous brain
drops of sweat percolate on the back of her neck

'you're always a victim, you're screaming it
you're a victim! you're a goddamn victim.'
there was something so terrorizing and haunting in the way she laughed at her own thoughts and slammed her fists into the gravel
tears stream endlessly from her starry, black-lined eyes
deadpanning, she confessed to herself,
"I just want to feel something again, something within
oh god, just rip my f*****g heart apart
anything is better than being so numb to everything, feeling absolutely nothing
anything is better than seeing myself looking as if I've already died and went to hell
anything
anything
anything
give me anything"
