TransientA Poem by JacquelineBeware of new acquaintances
Transient
I hear her voice
She needs me but I can’t move
From the security of my blanket
My fingers tremble as I pitch a tiny
Thrill down my throat and swallow
Dry
I breathe
A majestic transformation occurs
And suddenly I’m no longer deaf-
Pleas surround me and my body
Reacts as it should; I run to the
Terrified voice that beckoned
But it’s too late
A dark wet seeps from slow moving
Flesh
Violations of every sort is evident
on the once pretty woman
Perverse laughter is starting to morph
Into demonized sound
Trust can cost so much
I can feel an old familiar panic start to
Rise
Words are forming but the blurry faces
Move in closer-I am being removed
“what about my blanket?” I somehow uttered
Another dry swallow and I am reassured;
The next house will have more cloths of security
For me to hide under
Sometimes I wish we could keep the friends we
Always make…
