Crackhead Cousin VisitA Poem by JacquelineDarkly humorous now...not so much back in the 80's
Crackhead Cousin Visit I haven’t seen you in a while- My, you have such a shifty smile Eyes more vacant than a lot May you come in? sure, why not What is making you suddenly twitch? Why are you scratching your arms- do they itch? You’re acting flaky What could be wrong? This is the 5th time you went to the bathroom; and you stay in there so long Wait a minute now that seems strange… I could have sworn on my nightstand I left my gold chain… You have to leave? But you just arrived! Why are you sweating; it’s 15 degrees outside Can I give you a hug? Hey, take it easy… now you’re too jumpy! Why when I wrap my arms around you your pockets are so lumpy? Before you go perhaps, by chance you could teach me the steps to your shaky dance Your eyes are bulging, you’re grinding your teeth and I know you want to leave… But could you take my pack of batteries out of the sleeve of your coat? They’re all I have and they go to the remote © 2008 JacquelineAuthor's Note
