Just BooksA Story by JacquelineColor me curious...
Just Books I saw her strolling down the street Eating an apple, not paying much attention to her surroundings Then our eyes connected My cheeks got hot and I dropped my head I felt so guilty for my curiosity; I had a boyfriend… I looked up again and her eyes were sending me signals I wanted to walk over to her but I didn’t know what to say She answered her cellphone and giggled For some reason I felt foolish So there we were, mere feet away from each other I was across the street in front of Borders Books She took the initiative, sort of I stopped breathing when she came over towards me- then passed me by and stared at the many books in the window “Who’s your favorite author?” I heard a melodic voice ask “Stephen King, then James Patterson” I mumbled, hoping she didn’t see me blush “King is everyone’s favorite!” I heard that damn giggle again! She opened the door to enter the store and stopped to turn around “Are you coming in?” she asked and it sounded so f*****g coy “Sure…” I replied, trying to sound so aloof I texted my boyfriend, telling I wasn’t coming over later on “It’s just books… I reminded myself “Yea right!” my insides chided back © 2008 JacquelineReviews
