My First Sale

My First Sale

A Poem by Jacqueline
"

Girl scout cookies it ain't...

"

My First Sale

i feel strange
standing here
at your door
quivering with fear
rejection is a
possibility
all I have to offer is
me
such a plain
jane
don’t have many qualities
no specialties
just insecurities
but somehow you
see
beyond my thin skin
so easy to bruise
and I’m the one you
chose
with my tacky clothes
you have more to lose
have you ever been in
my shoes
or do you merely sympathize
was it my pitiful eyes
maybe you bought all of my
lies
too late for goodbyes
your opened door
means you are ready to
explore
the huge sum of money
on the dresser
makes me wonder what you
have in store
for me-
my first day being a w***e

Good luck in your writing

Gritty and not overwhelmingly dramatic.. I liked it. Harsh like smoldering cigar stubs.
