Eyes All Around

Eyes All Around

A Poem by Jacqueline
"

Paranoid

"

Eyes All Around

sweat drips off his face

he’s rocking back and fourth

cradling his pistols against

the scruffy two month old

beard

he closes his eyes;

he blinks-

every sound knocks the dust

off of five days of unrest

his gallon water bottle by his

side is half filled with piss

the acrid smell doesn’t

bother him a bit

roaches have come to feast on

crumbs in a pizza box

with cold congealed cheese stuck

to the top

he picks one of the critters up

and squishes it in his hand

the door knob jiggles;

he’s under the window

heartbeat racing, adrenaline

flowing

the gun is held in front of

him like a samurai holds his

sword

“All right m***********s,

Come and get me!”

a glassine with crank residue

lays in his lap…

footsteps approach…

Click-

BOOM!

down goes a little girl

blood splashes the rest of

a quickly gunned down family

it was the wrong time to come home

just wrong
