Grandmother Willow

Grandmother Willow

A Poem by Mallory N. Young
"

I wrote this because my favorite type of tree is a weeping willow and I always saw them this way after I saw the Pocahontas movie when I was a kid.

"
Dear grandmother Willow
why do you look so sad
for you are beautiful and majestic
and wise beyond your many years.

Dear grandmother Willow
why do you hunch over so
for you are strong and mighty
and can withstand what Mother Nature
throws your way.

Dear grandmother Willow
oh how you comfort me,
wrapping your long, loving
arms around me,
for you protect me
when I need you the most.
