Withering Lotus

Withering Lotus

A Poem by Melekije

Oh lotus what has happened?

Your peddles browned, torn and shattered.

Your soil is moist perhaps you seem to be over fed,

Or is it the lack of sun shining over head?

Oh lotus your roots have traveled so deep,

Now that they have withered even the willows weep.

Your beauty held together a light that shined,

But somewhere in the past your soul became benign.

Oh lotus with that stillness followed nothing pretty,

Even you yourself felt somewhat of a pity.

Please recall the flaming radiance,

Of the lessons you taught to having patience.

Oh lotus you are made to possess beauty in color,

However your brilliance is hidden under a rippled cover.

Your search for the sun has done nothing but kill you,

Hope for the comfort you planted a seed of truth.
