My Temptress I Retire

My Temptress I Retire

A Poem by mnicorata
"

I wrote this about a person who I thought was the right one, but the more I looked into it, I knew I was not the only one, which made me waste my time that I forgot about another that matters more.

"
Don’t know where it began
Not sure if I ever knew
A snake made her way inside
Came right in out of the blue

Charm and guile moved me so
Her dance lulled me tightly
Saw right through her words
Talked with her almost nightly

Games she played tempted me
Her hiss would make me laugh
Caught me in her darken web
Hiding behind a sullen mask

That curse drove me only to
The one I thought was for me
Shared with others unrelenting
A similar sex driven intensity

I belong to everyone she said
My temptress that spins webs
Noticed I gave up all my time
Eyes retracing all of her steps

Now I turn my back to her
As I said my final goodbyes
No idea where she has been
Tears no longer stain my eyes

Glancing over I see one more
A ghost that I had left before
This time now I can clearly see
Another that was meant to be

You know my friend, I think I get this and it is much clearer than even I expected. There are those who appear and tempt us, we cannot look away...the desire is great and they seem to be too good to be true. Well, too good to be true usually is but the light of this person blinds us to another who shines on us as well, but in a much truer light. Nicely expressed.
