This Time Around

A poem I wrote dedicated to my father, the one who is always there for me until the end.

This time around I can plainly see

All that is offered and ahead of me

A welcoming hand pulls me to light

An inviting touch provides all insight

Guiding hands push me to do right

Taking it easy but upholding the good fight

This time around I hear all that advice

Given great direction breaking all the ice

Wisdom I cherish melting in your hands

Carrying all you taught well into the lands

Holding your values till everything ends

This time around I see that it all depends

All this devotion you uphold long and true

Countless times lifting me out of the blue

Firstly I thought merely this all for fight

This time around I felt that you were right

Lumbering through that night after day

Everything I treasure never tossed in the bay

One day my eyes will never see you again

But this time around I will finally understand
