Chapter 16

We arrived safely in Corpus Christi. After visiting a country like that, it really made me thankful for the standard of living in this country.

It's nice to know that we are protected by laws that even power hungry warlords must abide by.

The first night that I was home I went outside at night just because I could. It seemed like such a long time ago that I've been able to sit out and look at stars or walk to an all night convenient store that I had forgotten how nice it was.

Just as I was reeling in the marvel of this wonderful country, I received a knock at my door. Who would be calling at this time of the night? It was the Deputy Marshall from the fourth district court issuing me a summons. It seems while I was gone avoiding bullets and getting sick, a woman with too much time on her hand and too little money in her pocket thought she'd ride a bicycle into my car and say that it was my fault for parking the car too

close to the sidewalk.

"What was she doing on the riding her bicycle on the sidewalk?"

She also claimed that I deliberately avoided her so I would not have to deal with her. I could not believe the things some people will do for money. This made me so fiery mad I could explode. I've heard of people winning millions in this way. I sat down and checked the ledger and made sure that it was updated. I thought about that woman and for some dumb reason I had a change of heart. If she wants money that bad, I'll give it to her. I had Clancy write that she would get the money that she was after. She wouldn't get it from me directly she would earn it and feel good about it. This way everybody would benefit. I called her up and told her that I would give her fifty thousand dollars, a fraction of the remainder of the cash from selling South Texas Oil stock, for

her to invest in a business of her choice and I would simply own stock in her company. It just so happened that she had wanted to own her own business running a  beauty salon. This kept both of us out of court and I am really not out fifty thousand dollars because I still own the stock that she controls.

Since the Tajikistan episode Alexia and I became much closer. She never knew that it was me that wrote her out of that prison. What she did know was, that I flew twenty two and a half hours just to be there in her support. In reading her thoughts I found that she still is was touch with that other guy but her thoughts of me were right up there with his. In comparing her thoughts for the two of us, it felt as though she my even have been in love with him, which I couldn't do anything about, but she had a greater deal of respect for me. I thought about what I doing and I realized that I was jealous and I never thought I would be. I felt that if I created Alexia I should be able to play God with her. This goes back to the same old story. What right do I have to run people's lives? I thought about it for a while then justified my actions in the same way that I did when killing Ivan. If I created these characters then I could un-created them as well. after all, I was only writing a story in a book.

I thought about all of the neat things that I could do such as having her fall out of love

with the other guy and direct it my way. That wouldn't be right. Love is something that must be earned. After thinking of all of this, I thought that all of the other time I wrote that good fortune would come my way, it somehow blew up in my face and I ended up paying for it in the long run. This concept though also gave me justification for writing other’s future. If I eventually pay for it, then go ahead and do it, but what? What would I write next? The whole concept was beginning to become overwhelming. I left my apartment and went for a walk in the wooded area. I walked by the site where I first found the ability to read people's thoughts. Who would have believed such a thing would be possible. If that could be possible then surely anything is possible. The possibilities are endless. A person could fly without some sort of mechanical device, or walk into to a phone booth in the New York, push a button that say Hamburg Germany, and walk out of the phone booth in Germany. Just think, there would be no more airlines, no more cars, no more boats, no more freight lines, and because this would mean traveling at the speed of electricity (speed of light), time would decelerate to a near stop, time travel would be possible.

With that in mind, if it were possible to travel at speeds greater than the speed of light we could not only travel the galaxies, but travel backwards in time. With an ability like that we'd finally know who killed JFK by going back in time and watching who pulled the trigger. That would be like discovering the Fountain of Youth. Imagine never growing old, living forever.

With the brainstorming I was doing, I was beginning to wonder if going for a walk was such a great idea. I began thinking of how reading the thoughts of others was possible. When I inhaled the smoke my sensory faculties in my brain became heightened to the point of being able to receive patterns of thought just as a radio receives radio waves. We can't see them or physically hear them, we can only imagine them, and with the help of an electrical device and wave models, can we prove that they exist. That must be what is happening with reading thoughts. The brain is both the transmitter and receiver of these patterns of thoughts. The brain sending the thoughts generates a signal and transmits it outwardly. The receiving brain receives the signal but in most

cases never reaches the conscious mind. With the help of the inhalant my brain translates the signal into usable and comprehensible awareness just as a radio receiver translates radio waves into understandable awareness.

Man did not invent radio waves. We just adopted them into useful concepts. That must mean

that thought wave have always existed, we've just never had a means to harness them. This whole idea of comparing thoughts with radio signals gave me a plan.

If a radio station could send 'selected' radio signal, whose to say that a brain can't do the same thing? I turned back towards the apartment thinking of feasible ways in which to transmitted selected thoughts to a selected audience.

I wouldn't want to sent thoughts out at random. If I could have the ability to send selected thoughts then I'll need to somehow have the receiver be able to translate them into usable awareness without reading the un-selected thoughts.

By the time I reached the apartment I was more wrapped up in my thoughts than I was when I left. I didn't know how I was going to do it so I thought I'd let Clancy discover the art of thought injection in Daniel.

Clancy wrote:

Daniel is frustrated at the thought of not having the highest priority in Alexia's thoughts. He wants the ability to enter thoughts into her mind, exactly what thoughts, he isn't sure. After a lot of thought, Daniel realizes that two concepts must take place, he must be able to transmit, and she must be able to receive, thoughts. He knew how to have her receive thoughts, just have her inhale the smoke from his solution but how can he transmit thoughts.

Then Daniel thinks, "Do I really need her to read my thoughts? No. I want her to have these thoughts as if she created them in her own mind."

Daniel scratches the idea of having her read thoughts. After a lot of brainstorming Daniel's mind becomes so cluttered with idea that he can't think a simple thought. He decides to take a walk in the wooded area. Before long he finds himself in the same place where he discovered the mind reading solution.

He lights a fire using broken twigs and limbs in the ashes that were left over from the other fire. As the fire burns he sits down on a fallen tree and watches as the fire become more active. The wind shifted sending smoke in his direction. He picked himself up and walked to the other side of the fire. Daniel was coming up with nothing. He can not think of a way to utilize what he knows to inject thoughts. He decides to go back to the apartment. He picks up a pile of green, wet leaves and throws them into the fire to try and extinguish it. Although the fire has died down the intensity is such that the leave are beginning to burn.

Daniel begins to wonder how he is to put out the fire. He feel the urge to urinate and what better way to put out a fire than to make it wet. Daniel looks in all directions and finds that the woods are thick enough the prevent other people from seeing him. Standing up wind he begins urinating on the fire.

White smoke bellows from the cinders. As he stands there urinating on the fire, the wind shift sending the billowing smoke in Daniel's face. Putrid smoke engulfs him. He tries to hold his breaths until he is finished but he just can't do it. He looks away from the fire and inhale lightly. The smoke still finds its way into his lungs. As soon as he is finished, he quickly zips his pants and runs to to fresh air where he breathes deeply the fresh air. He begins to feel slightly light headed then his senses come back to him. He steps on the few remaining embers then begins walking back to his apartment.

As he walks back to his apartment he sees a stray dog running through the woods. "GO AWAY!" Daniel thinks to himself.

The dog turns and goes in a different direction. "Good," Daniel thought to himself. He didn't want to deal with a dog right now.

He continues thinking of how he could inject thoughts. The more he thinks about it, the more frustrated he becomes. He reaches the street and comes to a four way stop sign. He stops and looks for traffic and begins walking. A truck approaches the intersection but fails to stop almost knocking Daniel over.

"Why don't you hit a tree or something," Daniel mumbles to himself.

"Crash!!! Bang!!!! Smash!!!!"

The truck over shot the corner causing it to hit a tree. Daniel rushes over to see if he is all right.

The man steps out of the truck, "How did that happen? I was just coming around the corner and like a dummy I released the steering wheel."

"Could I have caused that?" Daniel thought to himself.

Daniel continued walking to the apartment wondering if he had caused that accident. Once in his living room he thought of how nice it would be to have Alexia give him a call just for the sake of thinking of him, then the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hello Daniel? this is Alexia..."

"What has happened?" he thinks to himself while saying, "What a pleasant surprise."

The phone call went on and on. She seemed to be jubilantly excited. Daniel thought, "Alexia YOU ARE infatuated with ME," while saying, "Yes... Uh huh..."

Alexia tells Daniel that suddenly she can't stop thinking of him so she decided to gave him a call.

While talking to her on the phone, Daniel walked to the refrigerator and drank a glass of sweetened ice tea. Then he thought, "Alexia call me a horse's butt."

The conversation continued and she never called me a horse's butt. The leaves must have the mind enhancing element and it is neutralized by a sugar solution.

After what seems like an hour the phone conversation ends. Daniel thinks of what a wonderful discovery he has stumbles across.

Narrator: I stopped Clancy from writing so I could try it out on my own. I did as Daniel did. I decided to take a walk in the wooded area. Before long I found myself in the same place as Daniel, near the fire. I lit a fire using broken twigs and limbs. As the fire burned I sat down on a fallen tree and watched as the fire became more active. The wind shifted sending smoke in my direction. I walked to the other side of the fire. I couldn't wait to acquire Daniel's secret. I knew it was about time to go back to the apartment. I picked up a pile of green, wet leaves just as Daniel did, and threw them into the fire to try and extinguish it. Just as with Daniel, the fire had died down but the intensity is such that the leave began to burn.

Just like Daniel I felt the urge to urinate and what better way to put out a fire than to make it wet. I looked in all directions and found that the woods were thick enough the prevent other people from seeing me. Standing up wind I began urinating on the fire.

White smoke bellowed from the cinders. As I stood there urinating on the fire, the wind shifted sending the billowing smoke in my face. I knew this was coming.

The putrid smoke engulfed me. I knew I had to do this but still it was not very pleasant. I begins to feel slightly light headed then my senses came back to me.

I stepped out the few remaining amber then walked back to my apartment. As I walked back to my apartment I saw the same stray dog running through the woods as Daniel did.

"GO AWAY!" I thought to myself.

The dog turned and went in a different direction I knew it would.

I reached the street and came to a four way stop sign. I stopped and looked for traffic then began walking.

"Here comes that truck just as I knew it would," I thought to myself.

Just as in the story it failed to stop almost knocking me over.

"Why don't you hit a tree or something," I mumbled to him for the sake of being consistent with Daniel.

"Crash!!! Bang!!!! Smash!!!!"

The truck over shot the corner causing it to hit a tree. I ran over to see if he was all right.

The man stepped out of the truck, "How did that happen? I was just coming around the corner and like a dummy I released the steering wheel."

"I caused that?" I thought to myself.

Once in my living room I thought of how nice it would be to have Alexia give me a call just for the sake of thinking of me, then, wala, the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hello Sam? this is Alexia..."

"This is great!" I thought to myself while saying, "What a pleasant surprise."

The phone call went on and on. She seemed to be jubilantly excited.

I thought, "Alexia YOU ARE infatuated with ME," while saying, "Yes... Yes… Uh huh..."

Alexia told me that suddenly she couldn't stop thinking of me so she decided to give him a call.

While talking to her on the phone, I walked to the refrigerator and drank a glass of sweetened ice tea. Then I thought, "Alexia call me a horse's butt."

The conversation continued and she never called me a horse's butt.

After what seems like an hour the phone conversation ended. I thought of what a wonderful discovery I had stumbles across.
