How Many Times Before You Believe Me?A Poem by Glen Thompson
How many times
will I have to look you in the eyes, and tell you that I want to die, before you believe me? How many times will the blade have to drag across my skin, making cuts both thick and thin, before you believe me? How many times will I have to prove who I am, to prove that, yes, I am a man, before you believe me? How many times will your daughter cry through the night, wishing that his body was right, before you believe me? How many times must I date both women and men, and tell you time and time and again, "I AM PAN", before you believe me? How many times must I get straight A's, and have my academics leave everyone else in a daze, before you believe me? How many times before you believe me?
