Scarred Soul

Scarred Soul

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

This poem is dedicated to my son and daughter whom have suffered greatly from this and have lost a part of then I stive to help them heal.

"

 scarred soul

Scarred soul

There is a part of your child you dare not touch

Simply because you love them too much

There are things you can do that will scar their soul and will

But, even still

There are those the common man may see and think

They are the best parent they could be

Inward torcher

Sickened soul

Whatever the reason may be

Some seem to be smitten by evil while alone

Words thrown

Children shown

Things they need not be

Rather sexual or control

What is done they cannot see

A scared soul that leaves a hole

That cradled there very destiny

I've got three kid's myself. All old enough to take care of themselves, but still the urge is there to protect them. It never leaves. And this poem sums it up so well, with honesty and clarity. A superbly written work, on a supremeley difficult subject to address. A great job, handled like a pro.

Very deep enjoyed reading it, speaks of the things most are afraid to admit. Children tend to forget parents always do the best that they can even if they completely fail. But parents seem to forget sometimes, that children are only kids.

You poem seems to speak of the effect that parents and adults have on young children. We have the power and responsibility to launch them into a happy life or scar their souls. I was a little confused, at first, by the title. 'Scared Soul' talks about being afraid. But some lines seem to imply a scar, where damage has been done and a mark is left, in which case 'Scarred' would be used. Perhaps you meant both. Either way, your poem is vivid and displays stark reality. It's easy to read and gives the reader much to think about.

A powerful poem that open the door to thought. A child is a person learning every second of their life. We must treat them with care and love. I like the logic of this poem. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
