Nature's Wicked Joke

Nature's Wicked Joke

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

Nature’s wicked joke

Shattered glass

In beveled my body

Black crows

Peck heartlessly

At my mind

Nature’s wicked joke

My womb!

It’s my womb!

A child it craves!

Only to cradle

A tiny beating heart

For thirty-one days

My tears burns

My soul bleeds

As a dream is ripped from me

Shattered glass

In beveled my body

Black crows

Peck heartlessly

At my mind

Nature’s wicked joke

A powerful and sad tale in this poem. To lose a child is a lifetime pain. The poem was direct and the use of the language gave strength and purpose to this poem. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

this poem is so potent. speaks volumes about the torture of having a child and ultimately loosing it to cot death, so unfortunate. you expressed it well.

The nature of child bearing and
childbirth is , or can be torture, but
the loss of the child is beyond endurance.
Your poem is a relentless espose of the
child bearing process with it`s heartbreak
and record endurance.
