At the minds end

At the minds end

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

winter northern lights

We all have seen better days

Some pretty bad ones as well.

I know I have.

I run into people all the time

Who always feel

They will never be happy

Due to one reason or another

Do we even know what happiness is?

Can one person define for me?

Without using a biblical quote

What love?

Joy

Freedom

Or happiness is to them?

Nine out of ten times

Expressions to describe them overlap

We all look so much to our surroundings

To find contentment

It’s not there to be found!

It's something you

And you alone must find

From within yourself

Truly experience that

That which is surrounding you

Learning to filter out the bad

Yet learn from it

Cherish the good

Yet learn you must keep moving forward

Learn how it is possible to be happy

To be peaceful in the midst of a chaotic world

Peace is found at the minds end

This poem carries a lot of truth.

It reminds me of the lyrics of some Reggae
singer who's called Peter Tosh from Bob Marley and the Wailers

it goes like: ' I guess what they want is some peace of mind......
you can't borrow it from a friend
So mine got to come from within. '

WELL DONE !!!

Wonderful, peace is found at the minds end, great line . The whole poem conveys this so well . If you find peace and contentment inside then all the cahos on the outside is easier to deal with. Lovely write.

"Cherish the good'
In the end. The above words are the gold in a life. We must hold tightly to the good times and memories. Thank you for the amazing poem.

Good write, like the way you employ questions and so give your poem a direct, even interrogative feeling that is resolved in the last lines when you expound the way you feel and think, with its anti-materialistic, spiritual philosophy.

At the mind's end it's being happy in one's own skin, sharing what is rather than what might be, enjoying waking of a morning and even though yelling at yet more rain, look from the window and see how many greens there are alongside the rainbow blooms and .. and .. feel content.

Life's so material, so grasping and competitive, it's too easy to forget that the more we have, the more we have to loose!

Your poem's really got me thinking and I send you a ginormous thank you for that. 'Learn how it is possible to be happy ~ To be peaceful in the midst of a chaotic world'

I think happiness can be summed up by these sheryl Crow lyrics... "its wanting what you got, not getting what you want..." ... happiness is a state of mind, no doubt it is difficult... nice thought provoking poem.

I find this to be absolutely true, "happiness" is a state of mind you give yourself.

waa.nice poem.i like the theme n flow.
i can define for you What love is - love is pain.
and joy is to accept pain and take it as a normal n common thing.
Freedom is when you have nothing to worry about.

Very true, happiness is sometimes a brilliant reflection of life in the looking glass.

Nicely written..!

Great musings. Well written and thought provoking. Indeed, what is happiness? The basics, food, shelter, warm clothes, love I would have thought. All the rest is superflouous really. Other than cable sattelite TV. He he. Hey, you gotta enjoy some luxuries right. Without resorting to a biblical quote. Hmm, its what you make it right? Whatever floats your boat? But have we been led astray? What if we have been conditioned to seek certain kinds of happiness at the expense of others, because it suits the interests of a certain economic class. Like endless short terms sense gratification at the expense of deep spiritual contentment. Its a source of mass-hypnotism. Perhaps one of the worst kinds because people "happily" put on thier shackles. Their is nothing so hostile to freedom than the illusion of it."
