Sweet taste of victory

Sweet taste of victory

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

winter3

I dream a dream of a better life

I will make it come true

I do not have to believe in myself

I just simply have to prove

all my fears and doubts untrue

the sweet taste of victory

 I long for

the sweet taste

 will purge my mouth

from the taste of sweat and tears

I will have on my tongue for years

a journey on this path to dreams

is not an easy road

it is        my passion

it is       my dream

and it’s worth every burden load

This is a beautiful piece, and I found I could connect to it much more potently because of how eerily similar it is to the mind and situation of a main character I am currently writing.
A beautifully described struggle, and the wonderful feeling of a struggles worth. =]

This is a very nice piece. the one part I felt that didn't fit was the 3rd line
"I do not have to believe in myself"
I say this because the rest of the piece is so empowering! And I think you do believe in yourself!!!
You speak so true about the journey to the path of dreams not being an easy road. These words hit the spot. A journey of a thousand miles may be still not get us to our dreams, yet that extra mile is all that is needed. But in the end you are correct, it is worth every burden! So believe in yourself, and with that you will prove and your journey will be successful!

Lovely picture you have there, the poem you have though is lovely too. :) I like how you write your yearning for the taste of victory and it really is true: Isn't the taste of sweet sweet victory so delectable?

This is one of the most relatable poems for me that I've ever read. It spoke to me immediately. I love the picture that you chose for this. It's absolutely beautiful. Amazing work. Keep writing. I like what I see.
