I will not cross the church doors

I will not cross the church doors

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

So many get all caught up,

in the politics of church.

It’s sad for they diminish,

Its true purpose and it's worth.

I for one cannot stand it,

Not a another day goes by.

While they’re in the pews fighting,

A starving person just died.

Children have no shoes to wear,

no coat to wear in the snow,

but, here we are still fighting,

disabling us to grow!

Put down you mighty thoughts, please,

and pick up humility!

I will not cross the church doors,

‘till they pray for purity.

And when they do I’ll know it,

For they will come to join me,

In the streets where, “sinner’s” walk.

Giving freely, to set free

This is so true in so many churches today, people in a church are supposed to be united as one, but instead, we are all separated by cliques... and in a church! Your lines flowed beautifully as usual, and I must say that I agree with you fully on this issue, my church is so separated, I feel odd talking to anyone besides my mom and grandma.

Wow a powerful rant! You might replace Church doors with Senate or the like. But never a truer sentement is expressed.

I'm a devout Traditional Roman Catholic, and yet, I have to agree with this poem to a certain degree. The majority of people in my parish are very good people, but there are some who are hypocrites. People that think they're superior to others just because they go to church. That's not what religion is for. And that's certainly not how Catholics should act.

Nice flow to this poem.

They say; many are called, few are chosen...guess there is a reason for that.

I agree with this. People think their doing good by going to church, but many churches are too caught up in politics to actually be good. I'm not religious, but I'm not against religion. It is a way to connect people in a community and do good together, but greed and selfishness take away from that. People need to relearn what is right in the world and how to be interdependent. This poem teaches a well-needed lesson in a clear, honest way. Thank you.

Noble poem, but you'll never get 100% participation with anything in Church. Especially admitance of wrong.

It's the sad truth.
But good job.

It flows really nicely. I don't agree at all with the poem, but it is a good poem expressing what you believe in.
