I will not cross the church doors

I will not cross the church doors

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

So many get all caught up,

in the politics of church.

It’s sad for they diminish,

Its true purpose and it's worth.

I for one cannot stand it,

Not a another day goes by.

While they’re in the pews fighting,

A starving person just died.

Children have no shoes to wear,

no coat to wear in the snow,

but, here we are still fighting,

disabling us to grow!

Put down you mighty thoughts, please,

and pick up humility!

I will not cross the church doors,

‘till they pray for purity.

And when they do I’ll know it,

For they will come to join me,

In the streets where, “sinner’s” walk.

Giving freely, to set free

This is so true in so many churches today, people in a church are supposed to be united as one, but instead, we are all separated by cliques... and in a church! Your lines flowed beautifully as usual, and I must say that I agree with you fully on this issue, my church is so separated, I feel odd talking to anyone besides my mom and grandma.

great read you definately got the message across we know that religion in any format is responsible for most of the horrors people have to endure

I agree with much of what you say about churches and religion. Religion has not only failed mankind by allowing immorality and other negative practices but it even causes most of the world's wars and divisions. Religion has created their own empire, ignoring what the Bible actually says about our loving Creator and the kind example that His son, Jesus, left for us.

This is some exquisite writing here. It basically raises something that I was unable to come to grips with until fairly recently. Well...>.> maybe I am reading too much into it, but it still makes a world of sense to me that I have to accept. In life we come across doors and maybe once in a while we might know where they lead but at the same time the possibilities are endless because whatever door we choose to enter or exit out of shapes our whole lives.

Hmm, might want to work on this line, "Put down you might thoughts, please," and then consider nailing this to some church doors. Nice job.

Too right. If we sold all the stupid pointless jewel-encrusted s**t the church ornaments itself with we could end world hunger. It's a fact.

I definitely agree with this one--I've seen it happen in my own church, and it sickened me so badly I never went back there. I once heard it said the greatest argument against the Christian faith is Christians themselves . . . sadly, that's very true.
