A moment passed

A moment passed

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

Each moment is a gift, each second another is lost. Give each moment away on point, nerve to be caught stilling one away.

"

summer dreams

A moment passed as I walked the old dirt road. Another drifted by, turning to look at me as if it knew me. I looked to the ground and turned my head around, to see if it had left me.I was busy on my way, to do something important today, bills to pay and off to a job to pay my way. To moments, I had nothing to say. Before I knew it the day was done, I laid my head to rest.  I tossed and turned as a dream tormented me. Each moment that passed me that day, now had a face and something to say.I tossed and turned, unable to wake as the last moment came to say. "Today was the day your last moment passed by the way…there will not be another moment of another day." In that moment I faded away.

I enjoyed and respected this piece. Although I wouldn't call this a story per say, but more of a "Prose Poem". It's structured like one and has that rythmic feel. I write prose mainly and descriptive poetry, and it is done very well, but I have to call 'em as I see 'em.

That was a great, beautiful, sad poem. I really enjoyed reading it. Made me think about how I take stuff for granted. Great job!

Good write, this is a prose poem that evokes a lot of thought, about the expression, how often do we say.. just a moment.. without thinking about what we mean, you got me thinking here...

I love the way you gave "moment" a face and a personality, constantly offering opportunities. Very inspiring, and quite frankly, just what the universe's doctor ordered for me today. nice work, Melody.

This is so simple, and all the more beautiful because of its simplicity. Beautiful and meaningful.

You called this a story but probably meant to list it as a poem, and it's a good one. Moments and opportunities come and go. If we're careful, watch and plan, we might grab a particular situation that will benefit us. Unfortunately, my front windshield is smaller than my rear-view mirror.

In one of those moments, Henry Mancini wrote the song "Moment to Moment." Then Johnny Mathis wrote the lyrics for it. Those two had some great moments.
We all miss moments. And each of us are lucky in capturing some pretty special moments, too. Good write, Melody.
