I stumbled upon a photo...

I stumbled upon a photo...

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

I found a picture from 1989, I thought of who I was back then and who I am today.

"

1989

I stumbled upon a photo,

from my innocent days.

The brilliant sparkle in my eyes,

The soul that bent both ways.

How much I’ve changed over the years,

Is not that much at all.

Soul still bending, eyes still sparkle,

Just scars from when I’d fall.

Innocence, has changed to wisdom,

Flightiness, into thought,

Obsession, into mere passion,

Learned love, cannot be bought.

Grown from a girl to a mother,

Been straight to hell and back.

Found myself in the depths of it,

And got myself on track.

We are; a soul in a body,

Bonded by our spirit.

My mind has truly developed,

my heart has grown with it.

All in all, I am quite the same,

Just found my destiny.

Older and wiser for what I’ve done

but, satisfied with me.

You look so pretty and fresh as a daisy, the eyes are still there and the beauty of heart too, as the poem flows with the transition of your person, we get a glimpse of ourselves too, imperfect, but happy for who we are. Delightful, honest, inspiring!

Great Poem! I love that you you talk about not being that much different, I think it is true for almost everyone but usually everyone writes about how different they are. I really believe our only change is experiencing life. "Innocence has changed to wisdom" is a great line and very thought provoking. Great work!

Nice poem. All of us have come a long way & grown with wisdom & thoughtfulness for the better. Love the way you let it out though.
Keep it up!

Inspires you to love who you are and be proud of your past, because you certainly are and I commend you on that. The way you describe the way you have grown as a person, but haven't let that take away from who you really are, is moving. Great job on this poem, I really enjoyed reading it :)

The transition from girl to woman or should i say child to adult is never an easy journey but yours writing just summed it up with the happy ending. Bravo!

Aah, those thoughts of nostalgia, they just never ever cease. Such a great introspection, we all tend to get tougher, stronger, though physically we may manage to remain the same. A great comparison of 'then' and 'now', I just love this piece, so reflective, so truthful.

It's good to reflect on where we've been and to see where we're going. Excellent read and write. Namaste
