I stumbled upon a photo...

I stumbled upon a photo...

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

I found a picture from 1989, I thought of who I was back then and who I am today.

"

1989

I stumbled upon a photo,

from my innocent days.

The brilliant sparkle in my eyes,

The soul that bent both ways.

How much I’ve changed over the years,

Is not that much at all.

Soul still bending, eyes still sparkle,

Just scars from when I’d fall.

Innocence, has changed to wisdom,

Flightiness, into thought,

Obsession, into mere passion,

Learned love, cannot be bought.

Grown from a girl to a mother,

Been straight to hell and back.

Found myself in the depths of it,

And got myself on track.

We are; a soul in a body,

Bonded by our spirit.

My mind has truly developed,

my heart has grown with it.

All in all, I am quite the same,

Just found my destiny.

Older and wiser for what I’ve done

but, satisfied with me.

~Melody

You look so pretty and fresh as a daisy, the eyes are still there and the beauty of heart too, as the poem flows with the transition of your person, we get a glimpse of ourselves too, imperfect, but happy for who we are. Delightful, honest, inspiring!

We all grow up spiritually day by day. This is lovely :)

Sadly, the image is not showing for some reason. :(

this is a wonderful poem and it is refreshing that you are comfortable with who you are.

What a beautiful and sweet poem! We develop so much over time don't we? We change for the better, mature, but really, we are still the little kid who likes to play with dolls and cars at heart :) A great poem

Saw this and it sort of inspired me to write one of my own. Thank you for sharing. I think its time to tell my story as well, at least in that respect.

Love it. I remember 89, quite well in fact. 3rd grader at an army base on the Front Range. How short those years were, and how time flies. Thank you for this.

Melody, this is absolutely wonderful!! I'm in love with the second to last stanza. It's amazing to see how much we've grown but remained true to ourselves over the years. I was born the year the first photo was taken. :) id say you have plenty to be proud of now. :) 100!

I like this poem a lot! It speaks to the young girl in so many of us, the dreams, the realities, the harshness of making our journey. We grow, we learn, we change...but for the better! Nicely written and a new favorite!!
