I Will Wait...

I do not write you, to make you happy, nor to hear you agree. I write to make you think and maybe set your soul free.

 

I have seen…

the swallow fall from the sky,

        on a windless summer day.

the missionary swear,

the prostitute stole his money away.

 a father, become the father,

of his very own daughters, daughter.

 

I am not …

amazed, shocked or entertained,

by any of these things.

 

I am…

 waiting for more!

 

Waiting to see…

 our children grow up  in a world,

never asking  gender or race.

when man finally understands,

religion is an impossible case!

 

Wanting us to ask…

who put the power in our hands,

to divide freedom by sea and land.

to choose the condition of one’s soul,

when we are all one of the same whole.

I will wait…

this is reminiscent of john lennon's Imagine. he imagined. you wait. to tell the truth, i'm not real fond of that song and your poem has the same logical flaw as his song. in order for the world to become one, everyone has to agree with your premises. so much for diversity. i'd rather live in a world where there is plenty of room for religions of all kinds as well as agnosticism and atheism. or perhaps i am misunderstanding the line "religion is an impossible case"?

I was wondering when someone would mention this. For ages man has fought of which religion is the “One True” religion. It is an impossible case as no One religion is right, as all have a true core and a heap load of man interwoven. What works for one, may not for another. This is what I meant and am glad you mentioned it.

The world is as it is ever since ancient times. No matter how educated the next generation will be, the world will always dwell in chaos. Children will always follow the footsteps of their elders, nothing will change. We will wait for no change but the the approaching of the End of Times...

I agree, children will follow in the footsteps of their elders, thus we must stand in unison to raise and guide them right. I have a soul as do you that has seen us from ancient times...we can choose to wait for the, "end of times, "mentally condemning our very own children because we have lost hope, or stand true to who we are...acknowledge how far we have come and forever refuse to compromise the fluency and power of just one voice. I will raise my children in hope, understanding, equality, honesty and faith in the soul of man.

As do i... Children go to school only taught the same things, what to think, how to think.. .living like robots with no will of their own, no faith in themselves to question everything that is around. To live under a standard set of rules which are however absurd in so many ways. What is considered normal? I know only a few who seek to challenge the status quo. This is the real world though...
