I am a tapestry

I am a tapestry

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

unfinished

I am not finished nor will be,

I am a tapestry.

A soul that drifts in this body,

It is my prodigy.

I blend with you as much I can,

Within this short life span.

But what is done when time is done,

Same soul new life begun.

Each time I see so differently,

For all eternity.

Picture perfect,  don’t want to be!

Unseen means more to me.

So when you look upon my flesh,

A mere camouflage mesh.

Behold and see what is beyond,

The soul that laced this bond.

No; religion, gender or race,

Just purity and grace.

I am not finished nor will I be,

I am a tapestry.

~Melody

...and what IS a tapestry after all, but a thousand strands, woven together so that certain parts show and certain parts are concealed. Is that not what EVERY human life is? The real question, one which you seem well on the way to addressing, is: "Is the picture that is revealed by your weaving the picture that the Master Weaver would have you represent?"--"An ever-lasting vision/ Of the ever-changing view" Very well put, Melody!

We are what is inside us, and the way you presented this is so good. I immediately thought about the picture when I read,

"So when you look upon my flesh,
A mere camouflage mesh. What a fascinating way to say it!

I feel like with this poem you are finally and actually connecting with your muse. You are coming nicely into your poet self. Great photo btw, I love that.

this is very nicely expressed. reminds me of a poem i wrote once whose message was 'we are each so much more than what we are'. same principle. well done.

Immediately brought to mind Carole King. But then, anytime you speak of tapestry, it should.
This is a lovely, thoughtful write with wonderful flow and content. Good work, ma'am.
