A Story by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

A very short story, with a very big point.

A brilliant mind was once condemned to die, by its very own master. It cried, "But why do you deem me to die?"

The master replied..."I've been told not to use you as also told what to think."

The mind cried, "But I've wisdom untold of a world brave and bold, do you still not want me?"

The master walked away with not even a thought...as he'd gave that ability away.

Author's Note

Kimberly "Melody" Carney
I have seen the wondrous minds of men be tossed to the way side, simply to follow another’s thoughts on a matter. Rather it is; religion, morals or how we should do what we do. This breaks my heart in two. Where are the free thinkers that carry the dreams of what may just change our tomorrow?
I for one have always followed my soul it’s been around far longer than me.

Oh wow what a write you have written here. You are right too with " A very short story, with a very big point". I love all of the true meaning in this with thoughts, freethinking, freedom, and life. This write hold so much truth, sadness too. The mind is a lovely gift. I love your inspiration for this as spoken of in your author's note, such a great inspiration for this small story. I really enjoyed reading this powerful write, indeed it makes a impact in the small space you wrote it in. Really nice.

Very good. I think sometimes we abandon ourselves and what have to share or right.

I love your point here Melody! This almost sounds like something from history that you would hear from one of the great philosophers! People do toss their minds away, even writers. I have been working on a story for several years and have a huge conflict of if I should write or publish it or what not simply because I'm worried about what people will think of me. Our mind may give us an awesome plot but because of morals and/or religion, we fight it.

Heartbreaking , it's like we doubt our own abilities letting opinion, religion sway who we are? Excellent write.

sounds like a great mind is being ignored and has been replaced by technology. there is no need to think in today's world because all these small-minded people need to know are on their cell phones. great minds have tragically become obsolete.

i much agree with your own comment. i see many worlds besides my own, and inside of me more wisdom and life resides. and this is a sad reality of our humanity, that too many humans follow, like sheep but to an untrustworthy shepherd. so many are condemned so young to live in darkness for they sell their innocence, their imaginations, and souls to the masses of glazed eyed zombies that embody our cultures. However I foresee a time not long now when one by one the souls within the children will be ignited in fire and old wisdom will leak into our worlds again, and do not despair, this world is only one in many that you will see. This isn't even the beginning, but the middle, a stepping stone to where you truly belong.
Peace and blessings . for you are a light who sees within.
thank you for writing.
