Waiting for my prince to come.

Waiting for my prince to come.

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

Waiting here for my prince to come,

he’ll sweep me off my feet.

We’ll ride off into the sunset,

my new fate I will meet

Here he comes oh, my dream come true!

He’s everything I want.

Time slips by, time opens my eyes,

the realities so blunt!

I waited for him for oh, so long,

living in fantasy!

Never worked on me not even once,

just dreams of ecstasy.

So here I am alone again,

caught up in misery!

Now what I’ve learned to do this time,

is take some time for me.

I’ve learned to laugh and love myself,

to be the best, I can.

I’ve learned that I can be happy now,

it was found in me, not a man.

~Melody

Author's Note

Kimberly "Melody" Carney
The joy of a healthy relationship is one I would never want to be with out, but had to be happy with me first to find it.
Again, I am not saying love is not essential...never said that, not sure why everyone thinks I did. The moral of the story is we so many times wait for love to make us happy, it won’t work until we work on ourselves first, become happy within ourselves, then love will work.

The picture and the music fit this poem perfectly. I was quite surprised by it's contents I must say. I've always been told by others you must love yourself before you can love another. I believe that it should be said, you must love yourself, in order to know when another loves you. If you don't love for yourself, how can you expect anyone else too? I like this. Maybe a prince will come along, that just adds to the love that you already found in yourself. Great piece ^_^

I must say you got it right. You must love yourself and sometimes loving yourself first helps you to love another person. I hope my prince comes. Lovely work

A very strong voice! I absolutely agree! Such powerful affirmations, this is your world, and it is mine too, we share it, and we have every right to experience every aspect, especially self love and self respect.

Great message! Unless we work on ourselves first, chances are high that we will continue to pick toads anyway. This poem flows smoothly, and is a joy to read.

Very good poem about giving up our view of a perfect person sweeping us off our feet and learning that the perfect person is us; not the fairy tale.

Beautiful and true!! So many people search for their happiness in someone else and it never works. We try to mold ourselves into who they want us to be and we never really learn who we are. Great writing!!

Keep waiting, he'll come along for sure, he may not be perfection though, in the meantime we have to learn to accept ourselves and all our faults.
