The summer I turned pretty ~ Bhuyanshi TalukdarA Poem by Bhuyanshi Talukdar
A sweet refrain of crickets
Echoes the sultry morn. A blue silk scarf kisses my flesh gently. The heat clung to my skin, And the smell of barbecue filled the air, The taste of sweet lemonade, In a frosted glass. I could hear the birds a-chirping, The way the sunlight filtering through the trees cast dappled shadows on the ground. I began to feel a change inside me. There were moments when I would dance and sing And let the summer breeze play with my hair With joy and laughter. At the beach, as the waves would roll in, I would splash and swim. And feel the salt of the ocean on my lips And the sand between my toes. Every day brought new beginnings, and I felt like I was growing in more ways than one. © 2024 Bhuyanshi Talukdar |
