JakeA Chapter by Mae Vande GuchteWhen my eyes flew open. The little girl was gone and I was back. Back to where I first started out. Back in my bed with the blinding lights above me. I looked to my left no flowers. I looked to my right no flowers. All there is, is a bunch of computers with lines and numbers on them. There isn't anyone around me anymore. They probably all left. I take a deep breath and a sharp pain enters my side. I lift my head up as far as I could and I saw a white bandage on the side of my body. I put my head down and continue to look at the ceiling. A few minutes later a man and woman enter the room I was in. I shut my eyes and pretend I'm sleeping. The man and woman talk to each other about me as if I wasn't even there. "How is she doing?" The woman asks while stroking my hair. "She's okay for right now." The man answered her. "Any sign if her parents yet?" "I wish we could find them. Tell her about her you know." The woman said to the man. "We all do." He said turning to leave the room. The woman followed him after I couldn't hear anymore for steps I opened my eyes again. He said that I was okay for now. What exactly did he mean by that. I mean besides saying that I'm eventually going to die. All this thinking couldn't my brain couldn't handle it all. It couldn't stop thinking. Next thing I knew my body was jumping off the bed, and my arms were swearving. I had not control over my body. Five people came rushing into my room. One asked, "What's happening?" Another replied her vitals are dropping. If we don't get her into surgery to calm the brain down we are going to lose her." So ask five doctors were working on getting me unhooked from all the machines. After the got me all unhooked they took my bed and rushes me down the hallway. So here I am, again. The bright lights over top of my head and five people pushing my bed. We finally reached the room and my body still couldn't stop moving. I couldn't control me. They lifted me up and put me on a new bed. I could feel something coming out of my mouth. A lady asked, "Why is there blood coming from her mouth?" No one responded. The unfriendly people in masks were back. People were holding my arms down then a doctor gave me a shot and my eyes closed. ~ ~ ~ I remember the day I met him. My best friend that is. He was the only one who ever noticed me. The only one who ever saw me. He looked over at me and said, "how." Seems like I woke up sitting next to Jake. Jake was my best friend. We could tell each other anything. He talked to me like we had been sitting there for hours. "How what?" "How could you leave me?" He looked pretty upset. "First Lucas and now you? Why?" "It's not like I had a choice Jake," I replied. I guess he didn't know I was still in the hospital. I mean how could he. I mean if he knew he would be there right? "Everyone at school keeps putting candles, flowers, and notes around your locker. The funny thing is most of them never even knew that you existed." He said whiping some tears from his face. Jake was a football player. He looked all tough and all scary but in reality he was just marshmallow. But he cried at the things that would make anyone cry at, such as: a brother dying, or having your parents divorce over something stupid like who has the TV remote. But he was a fighter, he was there for everyone with a shoulder to cry on, and a smile to cheer you up with. "I mean. I don't want to leave." I said feeling sorry for him.
