The dragon and the pandaA Story by Thatonekid(Just as a little side note some of the credit from this story goes to my sister because I wrote this story based on a dream that she had.) It was a time in the world where the number of dragons in existence had dwindled down to one. There was one lone dragon, not quite as fierce as the other dragons that used to live but he was wise and he was kind. He was even more brilliant than a polished jewel. Armored scales covered his body the color of an opal. As the last dragon, he had taken on the responsibility of making peace in the world as it was the job of the previous dragons. He was a magnificent creature indeed, but he was now getting lonely. All of his friends had been gone for a long while now. Regular humans were no longer able to see dragons, the power was lost along with the other dragons. Humans did not believe in dragons, therefore they could not see them. The dragon, being unhappy with his current state decided to travel the world and maybe find someone kind enough to be his friend along the way as well as create peace in the places he travelled. Years after years passed and the dragon had travelled to many parts of the world, he had yet to find anyone that had wanted to be his friend as most of those he came across did not see him or did not want to travel with him. One day the dragon happened across a friendly and charming panda named Mei. The panda had been abandoned and shunned by the other pandas because she was too small and she had never followed the rules. Pandas were supposed to be silent and soft spoken, not deviating away from any of the norms, but Mei was different. As well as being unusually small for a panda she wanted to explore the world and she was more outspoken and mischievous than any of the other pandas. Mei, was intrigued by the dragon not by his beauty but by his soul and his adventurous spirit. And so she decided to travel with the dragon and they became great friends both exploring new things and helping to spread peace to the places they explored. But at last, in the present day the dragon had grown weary and without the magic of the other dragons he began to die. Chaos ensued throughout the world more than it ever had in any time before. In seeing this, Mei became determined to help her friend and set off to find a cure for his illness. Alone she traveled to the highest mountain in the world and climbed up. Up past the eagles, the clouds, and even the stars until she reached the top. There, at the top of the highest mountain somewhere in the heavens the panda found God. She asked God to help her friend of whom had been her only friend and was now dying. God seeing of the panda’s loyalty and companionship agreed to help Mei, however, would be transformed into a human without the ability to hear as she too was nearing the end of her life and if she remained a panda she would not make the trip back to earth. She would never again be able to see or communicate with the dragon again. The panda agreed to this and was turned into a human while the dragons life was spared. Mei, came down from the mountain and went to the dragon to say goodbye, as she would be leaving to live with the other humans. The dragon was saddened at this news and did not want his only friend to leave he thought maybe there was a different solution. So the dragon and the panda then climbed up into the heavens way up in the stars and asked God, if there was some way they could still be friends. God smiled at their friendship and approved of helping the two of them. Both the dragon and the panda were overjoyed as they had grown into the most loyal companions. As a solution God would turn the dragon into a human as well but at the cost of the dragons sight and so the two friends could be together but only if the panda was deaf and the dragon was blind. The dragon agreed but Mei, did not want the dragon to lose his sight and immortality, and insisted that the dragon remain as he is as he was the only remaining dragon. But the dragon did not mind losing his sight and immortality and insisted that they could keep peace on earth together. Mei, agree and they were sent back to earth one deaf and one blind. Regardless, they were happy and their friendship lasted for the rest of their lives as they brought peace to the world as they travelled together. © 2016 Thatonekid |
