A Wise Love

A Wise Love

A Story by MelLo

I cried out loud today.  I met a man who views life so beautifully aside from all that he has suffered.  I had met him once before and I was left intrigued by his words and his passion for life, for appreciating life!  The first words he ever spoke to me where about how men today disrespect women and take them for granted.  How precious for a sweet and soulful 75 year old man to utter words with such conviction, as if he knew me well, as if he had been there with me all my life.  He spoke of how men should value women as much as they should value their own lives, since a woman had in turn given him life.  This I treasured so much, it remained vivid in my mind for a few weeks now, till I encountered him again today.

To my surprise, though he did not recall our last conversation or at least did not speak of it, he spoke of poetry and his memoires.  I was mesmerized by his brilliant words that he recalled so well of poems he had once written of love.  Love that so amazingly touched me today.  He spoke truth, passion, experience, memories of his own life and how he came to be here today.  One who had such a tough life and did not have much still full of such passion for life.  Love cannot be sold or bought and is the base of it all, yet is so easily dispossed of today!  Then, he proceeded to recite a poem about my beauty as seen in his eyes.  Our conversation was so short, but so full of emotion.  I needed not say much, yet he could see my whole life in my eyes with just one stare.  His advice on how to live my life will remain with me for all time.  A total stranger has impacted my life in such a unique way today and I, I will never forget!  Sometimes it just takes a simple man, a grocery bagger, to portray this world's true beauty.  God works in mysterious ways and people can touch your soul, if just for one moment you let them in.  If for one moment, you glance up and slow down to listen, wisdom can reach you in the most peculiar ways.
