This little word so ardently
adored
Through poets’ lavish dedications
And lovers’ heartfelt declarations This little word that lonely hearts implore
Use with caution for meaning to endure
I like this little poem Mai! I did read the second version as well, but I prefer this version.
I enjoy how succinct the poem is along with the simple, yet meaningful warning at the end. I will admit that the second version has much more imagery, but I feel the images in this version are much stronger. I believe this is due to the very lack of images. It allows the reader the space in their own mind to envision each image on their own and create a little vignette of their own. The longer version kind of creates the vision and emotion for them. This one leaves that up to the reader (in my opinion, the fun stuff!)
Another fun piece from you, and it's even shorter than the usual ones! Seems like your catching on to the shorter writings you've been trying to tame. Good luck with your future stuff. I'll be reading!

as the Beatles sang..."say the word, and you'll be free; say the word, and be like me; say the word i'm thinking of; have you heard, the word is love?"
i like how you leave it up to the reader, with only a hint as to the word.

You'd think we, collective humanity, would have worn the little word quite out by now... but it is a word mad of stone, but light as air. You are right... it is often overused, or rather used for the wrong purposes, but nothing beats having it whispered between "I" and "you" in your ear. Very fine musings, Mai!
I enjoyed the poem. Gave value to words. Words do have value. We must be careful what we write and say. I liked your thoughts leaving the reader with something to ponder. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Crafty indeed.. I like the Five line manner of it with rhyming of the four lines.. The last two lines are especially very well etched out. Great job :)

Lovely words, we should really be careful while using this precious four letter word or else it will lose its sanctity.
