Edge Jump

Edge Jump

A Poem by M Lamont
"

Getting back into life.

"

Teetering, tilting, peering over

On the cusp of something big
But making me feel small
I can’t think “How did I get here?”
Because I am the one responsible
For this edge predicament

Glued to the ground
Unable to make the leap
Madonna singing “Jump”
But cannot be inspired to do so
No use in pushing or shoving
I am permanent fixture on this edge

It’s a lonely old edge and my visitors are few
I can envision my resolution
I just cannot put it into place
The wheels in my head are in motion
While I am a solid statue with a pigeon on my head

I will make the move
I know I will
One day
And throw caution and myself to the wind

And jump back into my life

Step away from the edge, it's scary there! : ) There is safety in getting all the cozy little ducks in their proper row. Sometimes you need to see how deep the water is before you jump. I like how you ended it with "and jump back into life". Oh, and I'd be remise not to mention your nod to MADONNA, are you ready to jump, get ready to jump! If I could just get out of my warm up pants and get this damb bird off my head. : ) Nice write Mark, I enjoyed!

I think everyone goes through that period, the period in which you find yourself trapped into the same routine, the same thing over and over again, and we all want to 'move' and grab control again.
I really like the way you have built this poem up. the comparison to the statue with the dove is brilliant!
