The Real Dream Kill

The Real Dream Kill

A Poem by Celtore

Darkness falls around my world.
As she lays there on the floor
Crying we both are
Talking too
Sorry’s are exchanged
I failed her in protection
And this is my confession
After she drifted to sleep
I no longer weep
I went to his room
Put a knife to his throat
He awoke with a jolt and said, ‘Please don’t.’
I did it and I heard a faint scream.
I woke up
It was only a dream.
I thought it was real.
I wished it was real
I felt something wet on my throat
I touched it and my fingers were red.
I jumped out of bed
I went to the mirror
It was a scratch
I looked at the sink and there was a knife
That was my life
He knew and he would make me pay
He could have killed me that day
