Where I'm FromA Poem by melril18A poem we had to write for Pre AP English III am from horses and dogs Cows and chickens. I’m from my grandparents’ farm. I am from Revelation 21:14 And I am from Quail Springs United Methodist Youth. I am from love and compassion and faith. I am from music, ministry, and mirth. I am from long summer nights and getting snow cones with my youth group. I am from piano and flute and trombone. From bitterness and mistrust to healing and comfort. I am from gravy and songs about gravy. I am from I am from the song of laughter ringing through my house. I am from a dad who knows how to make me smile And a mom who really cares. I am from stability and monotony. Routines and schedules. I am from the beautiful accompaniment of my family’s life. From my dad’s jazz piano And my mom’s organization. I am from the way the sun comes up every morning. I am from fishing under the moon. I am from trees and hammocks and lakes and moose. I am from canoes and kayaks and camp fires. Chocolate, chess, and chipmunks. I am from the deep breaths after an inhaler, The thoughts of a hypochondriac. I am from anxiety and stress. I am from God lifting the world off my shoulders. I am from I am from late night Bible studies From God’s eye prayer banners. I am from worshiping at midnight. I am from the Lord. © 2011 melril18 |
