Hospital AdventureA Poem by melril18unfinishedMy heart is pounding. Huge, body rocking beats. My throat is dry. My arms ache and I feel the cords and tubes all over my
body. My eyes are so heavy and I let them fall shut. I open them again and it’s been four hours. I don’t know how I got here I don’t know where my clothes are I don’t know who I am But somehow I know what’s wrong with me. I see shapes by the door. Familiar shapes. Parental shapes. They smother me. I open my eyes to a nurse with a needle. I close my eyes and she goes away. A parental shape comes nearer and speaks. She doesn’t tell me but somehow I know what’s wrong with me. I want water. I need it. A nurse says no. I try to cry but my body goes to sleep instead. Ice. There’s ice in my mouth. A nurse is putting ice in my mouth. Wow. A parental shape is next to me. Watching me eat ice. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. 2am IV 3am injection 4am chest x-ray Sleep. Jell-O. Injection. Sleep. © 2016 melril18Author's Note
