A Chapter by mkelly9898

As Luke steps up the steps and knocks on the door, I stop. Weston
looks at me with his deep blue eye. I stand on my tippy toes and whispers
to Weston.
"I don't think we should stay here."
"Well we don't have anywhere else to go."
"I don't have a good feeling about this."
"Why?"
"I just don't!"
As I yelled at Weston the door opened and Mr.Coin comes out. He
hasn't changed a bit. Still the old tall man with grey hair and grey beard.
"What do you need." He snaps
"Hello Mr.Coin I'm Luke do you remember me? I'm your neighbors grandson."
"Oh yes I remember you, Your grandma Anne's grandson right, oh and look
who else came to see me." He looks at me like i've changed my face.
"Hello Mr.Coin."
"Hi now just call me Greg."
"Okay hah." I laugh in my sweetest voice possible.
"Well what can I do for you?"
"Um you see we were visiting my grandma and the house was caught on
fire. You see my family and I stuck in a runt and we can't drive home
tonight. So...."
" You need a place to stay."
"Yes."
"Well how many people do you have?"
"The rest of my family went to the hospital with my grandma so it's just me
and Makendrie and her boyfriend Weston."
"Oh well that's not to many, in that case come right in."
I still have that pain in my back and that hallow filling in my stomach.
Weston stare's at me like I'm crazy.
"Don't look at me like I'm crazy because I'm not there's something not
right about this."
"What do you think that he's a murder or something." He smiles at me
"Yeah kinda." I shrug my sholders
"Oh my Makendrie, really come on will stay the night and we will all still be
alive in the Morning."
"Stop making fun of me."
"Come on." He grabs my arm and pulls me inside.
His house is different now it's not so happy and welcoming anymore
it's dark and make's me want to crawl in a hole.
"You did something different with your house."
"Just a little redecorateing."
"Oh I can see that." I put on a fake smile and act as if nothing
is wrong but everything is wrong. I know that this man is not
the same person I knew. He's changed in some way I just
can't put my finger on it, Luke just walked in like he's known
him for years and there great friends, when in reality it's been
years since we've seen him.
"You know I haven't had company for a few months, It's
good to see faces again.'
"Oh how's your wife doing?"
"I don't know like I said a few months has been lonely, she left
like 3 years ago,"
"Well I'm sorry to hear that." Luke gives him a dashing smile
like he always does to get what he wants.
"Well I really appreciate that you let us stay here, I wouldn't
like to drive 52 miles back home."
"It's the least I can do for an old friend."
I smile and look around again.
"The boy's will be staying in my son's old bedroom and you
can stay in my wife's old room downstairs."
"Oh thank you very much, but I can stay in the same room as
my brother."
"I wouldn't dream of it!" He raises his voice, I stand there in
terror.
"I'm sorry I raised my voice, I just believe that you and your
boyfriend should not stay in the same room. It's just one of
my beliefs, I know I'm a little old school."
"More like accent, I will be very respectable I promise."
"NO!" I stared into his eyes and I could see evil.
"Please."
"When I say no I would like it to be token easily, you want to
stay here? Then you better get downstairs right now!"
"Yes." I walk away scared for my life.
Greg puts on his sweet nice voice "It's the 3rd door on
the right."
"Thank you." I nod my head.
I walk down the black stair case, It smells like a lake
down here. I could only make out big shapes and not even
knowing what they were. I turn the corner and count down the
doors 1 .... 2..... 3! I opened the door and walked in. The first
thing I say was my best friend Katie.
