Cinderella's Dream

Cinderella's Dream

A Poem by Primula Goldworthy

"Come to me, my dear.
For a day is ahead of us being together."
"Oh yes."
It happens everyday.
Every night.
I get to meet a male.
Who makes me happy.
Who makes me feel as though I am special.
We run through the garden and through the castle.
We greet the King with his many people about.
We dance for a long time in the ballroom.
Sadly, this journey will end.
Very soon, I will not be holding his hand.
Very soon, I will not be able to see the delightful people of the kingdom.
Very soon, my beautiful gown will disappear.
After being with him, I open my eyes.
To see nothing, but blankets and pillows.
Nothing, but the journey I have to begin, alone.
