Four months gone by

and two lives will never be the same

connected so closely then wrenched apart

Was it worth it?

 

Shared highs, share lows

agony and euphoria

flame, wildfire, then smoldering ashes

Was it worth it?

 

Temptation of two friends

to gamble it all away

now it's gone, but a shadow remains

Was it worth it?

 

Two souls, once connected

revealed a shining light

now its gone, a mere shadow remains

Was it worth it?

 

Was it worth it?

to have it all and lose it?

would it have been better

to never take the plunge?

Your repetition of the lines "Was it worth it" had me debating the question myself. I wonder if any of my relationships were worth it, and I've decided they weren't. That you don't directly say what happened or what the poem is about within the poem has the reader find out for his/herself. Good job!
