Self-destructive Vs. Self-aware SocietyA Story by Mário TeixeiraTwo extreme and diverging beliefs, but which one is right? Do we really need to have a right one?I had the pleasure to think about this for some time and I came across this two diverging beliefs that kept me divided. I tried to reason for myself, the best I could, to answer this questions, and now I am showing you my side. This is what I actually tried to answer to: Is society really lost and are we walking towards self-destruction? Or can we still save society and the planet, as we are getting more self-aware? I have heard many opinions on both beliefs, a lot of times. I have been thrown of balance to both sides, as I found both to have strong points, till I finally walked steadily on the middle, trying to reason for myself, listening only to my heart, as I tried to decide which one is true. After long meditations on the subject, I came to this conclusion: There is no right or wrong side to believe in. The only thing that exists is positive or negative mentality. What happened was, when I was hearing the side that tells that we humans are self-destructive, that the society is suffering from the exponential growth of the industry, getting more and more lost, deep, in the middle of so much information, and all that negativity, I tended to my negative side. I let myself flood with destructive thoughts and emotions, so I believed it to be right. On the other hand, every time I heard that society was in the process of awakening and that was leading us to the greatness of the Universe, then, the positive thoughts and emotions would come, and as such, I would believe in that as the right side. Perceiving this, I finally came to the conclusion that the problem was me. And the best advice I can give you is: Don’t let your mood shape your perception. Since I was emotionally unstable, my perception would be shaped by my mood, I was too connected to my emotions and I would allow them to drive me in the direction they flowed, be it positive or negative. Since I use to have negative emotions on the majority of the day, I would easily be fooled to believe in a chaotic outcome for every situation. I would even help me trick myself into that. Then my life took a turn and I got tired of constantly thinking of the dark side. That’s when I realized I had to invest more on myself, I started slowly connecting to myself, learning self-love, every day seeing brighter. After some time my mentality had shifted to a point, where the majority of my day was positivism. I started to detach myself from the negative thoughts and I developed more confidence in me and the Universe. So, as I said, you have two possibilities when perceiving the world, positive and negative perspective. From this point, all we have to do is: Choose the side we want, and be always sure of that side. It will dictate what you believe in, and the future that lies ahead. As I started to be aware of this control, so did I choose my positive side and stuck to it. I will not lie to you, since it has not been an easy journey. It actually took a lot of hard work. For a long time I had to face, too many difficulties:
High persistence and mental strength kept me from quitting my self development work, which I still continue today, and will always do. But, when I got to the point where I could keep my thoughts positive most of the time, so my reality began to shift to a positive one too. With this said, back to the question, I solemnly believe that we are on the path of self-awareness and spiritual awakening, and for me, I am as right as I am. Maybe I am not for you, but then I dare you to take a few minutes, and think cautiously, to answer this question: Are you more positive or negative? Exactly! So, we are definitely walking on the great path. The society is slowly starting to awaken, realizing there is a greater truth that can be found in themselves, growing more aware of it, urging to explore this, and connecting more to their higher self. Finding that, maybe there is a reality beyond the one they had been living on. Also, more celebrities and famous people, are awakening too, and this is great, since it will accelerate this process, as they can influence some of their followers all around the globe. In one of my favorite movies, Inception, there is this quote from Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio): What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient… highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it’s almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed " fully understood " that sticks; right in there somewhere. " Cobb, Inception (2010) There is space for a positive idea to grow. This quote tells us how contagious an idea can be. In the same way that a parasite is something strange to our body, so this positive idea must be too. A contagious idea must be a strange one, and so a new one is. And we are used to live surrounded by too much negativity in our lives, we try to distract ourselves with all that is sociably acceptable, or not, but we still live with our negative self, most of the time. We live thinking we can only grow physically and mentally, but we forget, neglect or aren’t even aware of our spiritual needs. In this case negativity is our habitual side. And the contagious virus is called, “Positivity”. This is were I want to get. Negativity is already everywhere, this leaves for the new idea, a perfect environment to grow. This is exactly what I believe to be happening. The new idea has been planted as a seed, in some minds it is fully grown, and they can help spreading it somewhere else. From a small seed a mighty trunk may grow. " Aeschylus And here is also my seed to you! It is already planted, so I can believe in a brighter future. I can, I do and it will happen. We are awakening, and we will achieve great things. © 2018 Mário Teixeira |
