Doppler Effect

Doppler Effect

A Poem by mizzfizz

Haunting,

Haunting,

Haunting still.

A ragged wail approaches

To pierce my ears

And rip a bleeding memory

From its lockbox,

Though I have thrown away the key.

Clawing,

Clawing,

Clawing still.

A wounded beast emerges

To blind my eyes

And suck the sun-soaked air

From gasping lungs,

Though I have barred the cage.

Thrashing,

Thrashing,

Thrashing still.

A dismembered scene emerges

To choke my mind

And pitch the pieces

From corner to corner,

Though I have sealed the edges.

Ringing,

Ringing,

Ringing still.

A blaring siren screams

To prick my ears

And thrust a scene

From nightmare to reality,

Though the wail has faded ’round the corner.
