Onset

Onset

A Poem by mizzfizz

Feet tucked under

rest frozen on the stairs

with anxious ear pressed to ajar

basement door.

White painted wood

stifles words tripping out

in whispered phrases by voices in a

familiar drone.

Muffled cadences

sear impossible to forget

trains of thought that transform

phantom memories.

Lead-laden limbs

work against flight instinct

of brain to flee and preserve

self-constructed shield.

Stimulated neurons

refuse waves of pain

that bathe the brain with

white-hot blanket.

Unglued skeleton

rooted by gravity to

carpeted step that chafes against

sweaty palms.

I love the imagery in the poem. i would say that it would be easier to read if you just made the stanza one full blown sentence. When you put it in stanzas, you make the reader think each line will be a different thought, but i don't think this is the case.
Good job, it's a fabulous piece.

What a teaser, after reading this I really want to read more of your poetry etc. I really enjoyed this I was drawn in by how discriptive it was!
