OnsetA Poem by mizzfizzFeet tucked under rest frozen on the stairs with anxious ear pressed to ajar basement door. White painted wood stifles words tripping out in whispered phrases by voices in a familiar drone. Muffled cadences sear impossible to forget trains of thought that transform phantom memories. Lead-laden limbs work against flight instinct of brain to flee and preserve self-constructed shield. Stimulated neurons refuse waves of pain that bathe the brain with white-hot blanket. Unglued skeleton rooted by gravity to carpeted step that chafes against sweaty palms. © 2009 mizzfizzReviews
